One of the most recent and often tempting options for bowl gouges is those which are unhandled, allowing the user to select a handle of their choice and pair it with their favorite brand of gouge.
Whilst the multi-handle approach may seem like a fantastic idea in principle, we're strong proponents to the idea that every blade should have its own handle. That's not to say this is a dead end, indeed there are many handles out there which suit some people better than their traditional timber counterparts, but if your objective is to save money by investing in multiple blades and a select few handles, we promise you will soon be frustrated by the constant changing and swapping of gouges, inserts and adapters - not to mention finding that elusive allen key every time too...
As always, be sure to check that the balde and handle you are considering are compatible, since manufacturers have grown to have very doifferent interpretations of bar diameters. If you're unsure, give us a call and we can run the test for your desired setup.
Once you've eyed up the gouge of choice, be sure to check out our range of handles.
