One aspect of turning that often preoccupies turners is the thickness of their bowl and vessel walls. The answer to this question is simply answered by the use of double-ended calipers.

Another staple of the woodturner is a pair of dividers, often used to mark specific diameters on the base of bowl for accurate mareking of where to cut dovetails, either as recesses or foot. This remove the guesswork and improves the final old on your chucks.
