Butt chisels are short bench chisels and are preferred for working in confined spaces and for tasks requiring extreme delicacy. The high carbon steel blades on these chisels, manufactured by Crown Hand Tools of Sheffield, UK, are of the bevel edge pattern and are fitted with short, bulbous, 'palm' style handles of plantation grown rosewood, giving an excellent grip and good tool control.
These chisels are normally sharpened with a primary bevel of 25 degrees and a secondary bevel of 30 degrees, as for standard length bench chisels.
