The DB6000 lathe is essentially a short-bed DB1200 designed to provide the ultimate in lathe performance in a compact package. By
shortening the bed length by 600 mm, the footprint of this lathe is reduced to be smaller than that of the DB800, our most compact conventional lathe configuration. Maintaining the concept of a super-powerful,
no-compromises package, the DB6000 is also available in a "bowl-turner" configuration which includes the DB1020 Bowl Turning Attachment, providing an awesome 100 mm (40") over-bed turning capacity. Coupled
with a five-speed belt transmission, vario electronic speed control and options of 2HP or 3HP drives, this machine provides unsurpassed torque delivery at your fingertips. For comparison, the DB6000 can
deliver nearly 10 times the torque (turning force) available from our DB801, itself reckoned to be a very competent performer! The DB6000 uses the same headstock, tailstock and banjo as the DB1200. As with
the other lathes in this series, the headstock can both rotate to give clear access for turning large diameter items, and can be positioned anywhere within the length of the bed to allow optimal access to the
workpiece within the "geography" of your workplace. The massive capacity over the bed, in excess of a half metre diameter, is extended to over two metres when using the headstock rotated to permit turning over
the floor. The choice of drive systems provides either a three-phase motor driving through a five-speed pulley system or, for optimum performance and flexibility, this same five-speed system driven by the
excellent Vario electronic variable speed system giving infinitely variable speed over the complete speed range (see
specifications). A more comprehensive review of the features of this lathe is available in the Technical Specifications section of the website. A table of specifications also appears below
. This lathe can also form the foundation of sophisticated woodturning
work-centre with accessories for copy-turning, fluting
and ornamental turning
all available. Built in Belgium, to the highest standards, by a dedicated and caring producer, these lathes represent the pinnacle of woodturning ambition for the serious enthusiast and professional woodturner.
