It is strongly recommended that you print this page of instructions and keep them alongside you whilst you visit the
shop, in case you have any queries.NB: The shopping software normally operates successfully with all versions of Netscape Navigator 3.0 and later and Microsoft Explorer 3.0 and later. If you have an older
browser and would like to upgrade, both Microsoft and Netscape have sites from which current versions may be downloaded. If the computer you are using is an older model, say, 486/66MHz and slower, then it may be that
the system response will slow somewhat as the number of items added to your basket grows. If this occurs, please be patient whilst your processor handles the data. |
1) Unless you were presented with additional information during the loading of the shop, advising you that your computer/browser will
only permit browsing, rather than full shopping, then you are able to shop on-line. If yours was one of the few systems which cannot use the shop interactively, then please feel free to email your order to us and
we will advise total cost and shipping cost by return. Do remember to include your full postal delivery address and return e-mail address if sending an order by
e-mail. |
2) On the shopping pages you will generally find one or more 'order' buttons such as this one: |
In a few cases, the item is added to the shopping basket by clicking on a hypertext link which will appear as:
£14.58. |
Click on whichever of these is available, to add a product to your basket. |
3) As soon as you have added a product to your basket, you will be transferred to the Review page where you can see the current
contents of your basket. (You can get to this page at any time by pressing one of the Review Basket buttons) |
The action of transferring to the Review page confirms that the product has been added to your basket. On the Review page it is also
possible to remove an item from your basket (click on the 'delete' link at the right of the line against the item you no longer require) or, in most cases, amend the quantity of an item that you order (click in the
quantity box to select the value displayed and type in the new value you require; click the 'UPDATE' button to implement these changes). Note that customers outside the EU will pay the price in the column marked
'Unit Price' and all references to VAT on this page may be ignored. At the top of the Review page are buttons which give you choices of action from this point. |
The 'Shopping' button returns you to the page from which you ordered the last item added to the basket. Equally you can return
to the relevant product page by clicking on the descriptive text of an item already in the basket. You may also navigate to any other page by using the navigation buttons in the left margin of the page.In the
upper right of the Review page is a display of the total order value, to date, including the cost of UK taxes and shipping. NB: this will reflect the cost of shipping to a UK address until you have told the system
otherwise by either logging in (if a returning client) or by entering your location details on the Checkout page. If you are a returning client you may log in to the system and recover your recorded name and address
details and any previoud basket information (NOT card details: we do not store those and do not even see them if you pay through NetBanx, which we strongly recommend.) |
If you have now selected everything that you wish to purchase on this visit to the ToolPost, then the next stage is to 'check out'.
To do this, press the button marked 'Ckeckout' then follow the instructions from 4, below. |
It may be that you decide that you have made some poor shopping choices and you now wish to empty your basket and start over again.
If this is the case, use the 'delete' links by each product to do so. |
4) Once you are ready to pay, you are transferred to the Checkout page, where you are asked to enter your personal details to enable
us to ship the goods to you and for you to effect payment. To move from field to field, use the <tab> key on your keyboard, or click in the field into which you wish to enter information. Unless
yours is a commercial organisation, you can ignore the Organisation Details section. Take care when entering your name and postal address: if you are paying by credit card, this must be the name and address to
which the card is registered. Unless you enter a second specific delivery address, later, this address will also be used as the delivery address. Make sure that you pick the correct location/delivery
location country from the drop-down box(es) since this value is used in calculating shipping costs and will be the final line of your delivery address. The Post/Zip code is used in payment validation and should be
entered, if you have such a code. European Union (EU) customers are charged VAT at the UK rate (17.5%) on their purchases, unless they are VAT registered. VAT registered EU customers should enter their
VAT registration number, including the national prefix (e.g. FR/BE/DE/GR etc) in the box provided so that goods can be supplied VAT-free. Finally, if you wish to convey any additional information regarding your
order, please enter this in the box marked "Additional Information" at the bottom of the page (you may have to scroll the page down to see this). If you wish to amend any of the data entered, simply click
within the required field and make the amendments. At this stage, you should be ready to move on to the actual payment process. |
5) The final payment page shows a summary of your order with final pricing, including shipping costs and any applicable UK taxes (EU
customers only). Also on this page is the delivery address, initially set to your card billing address as entered on the previous page. If you require shipping to a different address, click on the "Add a new
delivery address" link and proceed as indicated. Once you are satisfied that your order is correct, select a payment method from the drop-down menu in the section headed 'PAYMENT METHOD'. If you wish to pay
securely, on line, using a credit or debit card then the option to select is 'Credit Card on line (secure via NetBanx)'. This is the most secure method of paying and does not require you to 'join' NetBanx, to
register with them or anything else. Thay are simply an (excellent and long-established) on-line payment service provider, authorised by all of the major UK clearing banks and many more overseas. |
